چکیده

The flavin content of tissues and tissue homogenates has been reported from time to time (see, for example, (l)), but quantitative information on the partition of flavins in more defined preparations used in the study of electron transport systems is generally meager (cj. (2)). Recently, Ziegler, Green, and Doeg (3) claimed that beef heart mitochondria contain only flavin adenine dinucleotide in the trichloroacetic acid-extractable fraction. However, the reduced diphosphopyridine nucleotide dehydrogenase (4) isolated from the snake venom digest of the Keilin-Hartree heart muscle preparation possesses riboflavin phosphate as the prosthetic group (5, 6).l I f the riboflavin phosphate of the dehydrogenase is not an artifact created during isolation, the heart muscle preparation should likewise contain pre-existing riboflavin phosphate. Indeed, we have detected this flavin in our preliminary experiments.2 The Keilin-Hartree preparation has been shown to be a preparation of disintegrated mitochondrial membrane (11)) and its behavior in nonphosphorylating respiration resembles (2) that of electron transport particles (10) and of intact mitochondria. These facts induced us to undertake a more extensive survey, based on a randomized block design, of the flavin distribution in the Keilin-Hartree preparation and in intact mitochondria. The results were further subjected to statistical analysis in order to reach objective conclusions, free from bias, from the experimental data. This paper describes the distribution of riboflavin phosphate, flavin adenine dinucleotide, and the acid-nonextract-

PREPARATION OF FIBRIN GLUE AS A BIOLOGICAL SEALANT TO CONTROL BLEEDING IN HEART MUSCLE AND BLOOD VESSELS

Fibrin glue is used for control of bleeding in various surgical procedures. In this work the ability of fibrin glue to seal punctures in the vascular system is demonstrated. Blood samples were taken from rabbits, fibrinogen was separated and fibrin glue was eventually prepared. The rabbits were anesthetized and a midline incision was carried out. The heart and abdominal aorta were exposed. ...

Are Heart Muscle Irisin Levels and FNDC5 Gene Expression Regulated by Endurance and Resistance Exercises?

Background. Irisin is the result of the proteolysis of fibronectin type III domain-containing protein 5, the levels of which are determined by physical activity. Objective(s). This study aims to identify changes in FNDC5 gene expression and the heart muscle irisin levels in male rats following 8 weeks resistance and endurance training. Methods. Fifteen male rats (10-12 weeks old and 331.8&plu...

Investigating the anti-apoptotic effect of sesame oil and honey in a novel nanostructure form for treatment of heart failure

Objective(s): Sesame oil is a lipophilic compound and has low aqueous solubility and low oral bioavailability. It is possible to enhance sesame oil solubility in aqueous media by applying the microemulsion system in the form of oil-in-water. In this study, the anti-cholesterol and anti-Apoptotic effects of a new combination of sesame oil and honey in a microemulsion form for cardiac muscle cell...

Impact of Aerobic Exercise on Restoration of Soleus and Gastrocnemius Muscles Microcirculations in Wistar Rats with Chronic Heart Failure

ABSTRACT         Background and Objective: Scientific evidence reveals that the density of skeletal muscle microcirculations decreases in the patients with chronic heart failure. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the impact of submaximal aerobic exercise training on restoration of fast/slow-twitch muscle fibers microcirculation in rats with myocard...
